My Story
I want to help new fathers become faithful, kind, and strong.
Each time my wife and I welcomed another child—and each time we walked through a miscarriage—I thought, “I should write down what I’m learning so other dads can be better prepared.” When we discovered she was pregnant with our seventh child, I finally opened a blank document and began writing during the pregnancy.
I created readyset.dad from a desire to share hard-earned wisdom with the next generation of dads, so they can love their wives well and welcome children as a blessing rather than a burden.
Writer. I turn what I’ve learned through family life into practical, Scripture-minded encouragement for first-time dads.
Husband and father. I believe serving my wife well is part of becoming the kind of dad my family can count on.
Guide. I write directly and honestly for ordinary men navigating an extraordinary season.
My wife, our kids, and me. Taken not long ago.
The heart behind it
I’m Ryan McKeel—a husband, dad, writer, and the founder of readyset.dad. I’m passionate about preparing men for fatherhood, and I believe leading your family starts long before the due date: in prayer, in character, and in the daily choice to show up for your wife.
I created this project to offer biblical perspective, practical preparation, and hard-won encouragement for every guy whose wife is expecting and who wants to become the kind of father his family can count on.
When I’m not playing with my kids or 3D printing, I enjoy exploring the Colorado mountains, grilling steaks, and playing chess variants such as anti-chess.
